What you can learn.

Start with a comfortable way to hold the sticks, a steady pulse and simple drum patterns. You can gradually bring your hands and feet together, then explore fills and changes that help a song move.

For players with some experience, lessons can focus on timing, control, different grooves and playing along with music. Jonathan, our drum tutor, will help shape the work around your goals.

Let us know what music you enjoy and whether you have played before. You can use a drum kit at the academy, so owning a kit is not a requirement for starting lessons.

We’ll design your lessons around your goals, interests and experience. Whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence or working towards a performance, the approach can grow with you.

Do I need my own instrument?

No. We have instruments at the academy for you to use during lessons. You’re welcome to bring your own, but there’s no requirement to do so. If you’re thinking of buying an instrument, we’re happy to offer free advice, whether or not you’re a student with us.
